GRADING

Each assignment is awarded points, which are added up at the end of each grading period.  Points come from classroom individual and collaborative work, homework, quizzes, and tests.  The following grading scale will be used:

A+  100%

A  93-99%

A-  90-92%

B+  88-89%

B  83-87%

B-  80-82%

C+  78-79%

C  73-77%

C-  70-72%

D+  68-69%

D  63-67%

D-  60-62%

MS. JENKINS, 8TH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS, ROOM 12

Course Description:

The goal of 8th grade language arts is to develop the skills needed for success in high school and beyond.  Students will read and analyze a variety of material, including novels, plays, short stories, poetry, and nonfiction pieces.  Students will respond to their reading via discussion, writing, and projects.  Written compositions will range from creative writing to expository pieces and will be enhanced by a study of grammar and vocabulary.

Additional materials relevant to the lessons including: video, websites, music, novels, and handouts

MISSING WORK, LATE WORK, AND ZEROS

Please check SchoolLoop often to view missing assignments (zeros).  Missing assignments either weren't completed or were turned in without a proper heading.

"No Names" may be claimed in the classroom and resubmitted as late work.  Late work receives 50% of the score earned.

Students are allowed one day for every day they are absent to make up the work for full credit.

Please have a parent or guardian contact me if there are special circumstances.
